TVCortos (ShortsTV’s sister channel in Latin America) is hosting the Best of Latin America Short Film Festival 2019 and we’re looking for great Spanish language short movies made by Latin filmmakers!
Our goal is to raise artistic awareness of Latin filmmakers (films must be in Spanish language) in the Hollywood film community and to open doors for possible television deals and other opportunities, including qualifying for an nomination of an Academy Award.
TVCortos will award prizes totaling $2,500 to the top five short films chosen at The Best of Latin America Short Film Festival 2019. The top five films will also receive a screening in Los Angeles, California for seven days and gain Academy Award qualification status. Every film entered will be considered for a television broadcast contract on TVCortos (filmmakers do not have to accept this opportunity).
To be eligible for the competition, entries need to be a Spanish language “narrative” live action short film with a total running time of 40 minutes or less where either the writer, director or producer is from Latin America and the film’s final form must be in High Definition (HD) or DCP.
Key dates for the competition are as follows:
- 1 October 2018: Short movie submission opens
- 31 December 2018: Short movie submission closes
- 28 January 2019: Five finalists are selected and announced
- 7 February 2019: Winner announced on TVCortos television and on TVCortos social media platforms
- 1-7 March 2019: Screening in Los Angeles, California
